For centuries Libya has been on the crossroads of the world's greatest civilizations. Libya boasts a treasure trove of Greek and Roman cities, notably Sabratha and the outstanding Leptis Magna. Evidence of Byzantine remnants are abundant as well, all coming together on the shores of the Mediterranean's African coast. Inland, Libya offers spectacular desert scenery. Consequently Libyan culture is rich and varied in influence and style. The relatively new tourism sector means Libya has exciting and vibrant opportunities for travelers seeking to explore this fascinating land.
Day 1: Arrival in Tripoli
Arrival at Tripoli airport, meet and assist by an experienced English-speaking Libyan guide. On the way to the capital city, which is 30 km from the airport, your guide will give you short description about the life of the people who live in Tripoli. Transfer to your hotel. Then explore the charming city of Tripoli visiting the Green Square (Assaha Al Khaddra). Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Tripoli. (D)
Day 2: Tripoli
Morning visits to Tripoli National Museum, Sougs (local jewelry and handicraft markets), and Islamic quarters. Lunch at a Turkish restaurant. In the afternoon visit the historical churches Santa Maria, Orthodox Church of St. George, and the former Italian Cathedral. Dinner at a Lebanese restaurant and overnight in Tripoli. (B, L, D)
Day 3: Tripoli - Sabratha - Tripoli (63 km)
Morning departure for the ancient Roman city of Sabratha (UNESCO World heritage site), one of the most well preserved sites in the world today with a spectacular theater overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Visit the museum of the ancient Roman city. Lunch at a Sabratha restaurant. Return to Tripoli to visit the old British Consulate and French Consulate. Dinner and overnight in Tripoli. (B, L, D)
Day 4: Tripoli - Sebha (750 km)
After breakfast we shall continue our visits to the Arch of Marcus Aurelius and Karamanli Mosque in Tripoli. Lunch at a restaurant close to the Arch of Marcus Aurelius. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your one-hour domestic flight to Sebha, capital of the desert. Dinner. Overnight camping (B, L, D)
Day 5: Sebha - Gaber Oun Lake - Om Alma Lake
Early morning departure for Gaber Oun Lake, an approximately 3-hour drive among dunes and rocks. Explore the fascinating landscape of the area and continue towards Om Alma Lake, a 3-hour drive. At the lakes you will find Twareg (local inhabitants) selling handicrafts, have green tea with them, and be treated to Twareg folklore performances. Overnight in tents under the stars. (B, L, D)
Day 6: Om Alma Lake - Germa
Continue to discover some oases on the road. Drive to the city of Germa and explore the archaeological remains of the old Garmentian civilization, the first indigenous empire of significance in Libya. Visit the museum of the old city of Germa and some pyramids which are about 20 km west of the city. Lunch at Ubari city. Dinner and overnight at the camp or dunes in tents under the stars. (B, L, D)
Days 7, 8 and 9: Acacus Mountains - Wadi Ouisse
This "off the beaten track" journey takes you to Acacus Mountains (UNESCO World heritage site). Wander through the old caravan trading town of Ghat. Drive into the Acacus Mountains and visit the towering Natural Arch. Deep in the Acacus Mountains you will explore some of the prehistoric cave paintings and meet some of the Twareg still living a traditional life in the Acacus. Night in tents under the stars. (B, L, D)
Day 10: Acacus Mountains - Adhan Murzuq Sand Sea
This day you drive from Acacus Mountains to Adhan Murzuq, one of the world's largest sand dune deserts covering an area almost the size of Switzerland. This Sand Sea will provide you the opportunity to experience the magnificence of the Sahara. Night in tents under the stars. (B, L, D)
Day 11: Adhan Murzuq Sand Sea - Matkhendoush (30 km)
This day you leave the Adhan Murzuq Sand Sea and drive to the deep rocky valley of Matkhendoush, the ancient spiritual site with its myriad of engravings depicting the fauna that once roamed this region. (B, L, D)
Day 12: Matkhendoush - Sebha
Return from desert to Sebha. City sightseeing. In the evening transfer to airport for your flight to Tripoli. Overnight at your hotel in Tripoli. (B, L, D)
Day 13: Tripoli - Leptis Magna (123 km)
Morning departure for Leptis Magna (UNESCO World heritage site). The city of Leptis Magna is one of the highlights of any Libyan tour. An extensive site, Leptis Magna was one of the most important cities in the Roman Empire. Return to Tripoli for overnight.
Day 14: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Note: Visa is delivered upon your arrival at the airport. For the issuing of the visa, you have to submit to us a photocopy of your passport and your profession almost 2 months before your arrival in Libya. The confirmation of visa will be sent to you. You have to bring your own sleeping bag.
