Day 1: Warsaw
Arrival at hotel. Check in and time to refresh.
Warsaw is the capital of Poland and its main transport hub. After its almost complete devastation during World War II, the city was its almost complete devastation during World War II, the city was reborn out of the ashes and has developed into a modern centre of culture, science and business. The tour of the city includes the Old Town, which was reconstructed after World War II in a faithful rendering of the original. At its heart is the Market Square, from where narrow streets lead to medieval defensive
walls, the Barbican, St. John’s Cathedral and the Royal Castle.
Once home to the Polish royal family and seat of the Polish parliament, it now houses the Castle Museum.
The Castle was completely destroyed by German troops in the aftermath of the Warsaw Uprising, and its reconstruction was
completed in 1974. The Castle used to serve as the official residence of Poland’s kings, and housed the Polish Parliament from
the early 17th until the late 18th century. Although the building is a replica, many of its furnishings are originals worth seeing.
Day 2: Warsaw – Zalezowa Wola – Wilanow – Warsaw
Zalazowa Wola – Chopin’s birthplace; Wilanow Palace evening piano concert. Overnight in Warsaw.
This is a small village west of Warsaw and a well-known destination for many visitors to Poland. It is where Frederic Chopin, the famous Polish composer and national hero, was born and lived. The museum includes some original furniture and other personal items, and it also serves as a concert hall during the summer. Every Sunday, summer concerts are held in the manor house and the park. Lunch in local restaurant.
Afternoon tour. In the early 17th century, this Baroque palace and garden was turned into a summer royal residence. After the war, it became a museum with a rich collection of Polish portraits, original furniture and interior decor. Next to the Palace is the Poster Museum, the first of its kind in the world. The Palace is surrounded by a classical English landscape park and gardens, just perfect for a break during your visit. Evening Chopin piano concert in Lazienki – “Royal Baths Park”.
Day 3: Warsaw
Warsaw Uprising Museum or Polin Museum
The group may stay in the city and visit Warsaw Uprising museum or Polin Museum and have some free time for shopping.
Day 4: Kraków
Departure to Krakow. Old Town and Jewish Quarter Tour & Folklore Dinner.
Morning transfer from Warsaw to Krakow. Afternoon tour. Having escaped destruction during World War II, the city has uniquely retained its charming medieval form. The central Market Square – the largest in Europe – is where several of the city’s architectural and cultural landmarks can be found, such as the Cloth Hall which today houses a gallery of Polish paintings and St Mary’s Church, world-famous for its altar carved by Veit Stoss. Kraków is the home of the Jagiellonian University, founded in 1364. Soul of Kazimierz perished during the traumatic events of the Second World War, but many of its buildings, some still with Yiddish inscriptions, survived. Highlights include Szeroka Street, where “Schindler’s List” was filmed, the Isaac, High, and Old Synagogues, Remuh Synagogue and Cemetery, and the Pod Orłem (“Eagle”) Pharmacy.
Day 5: Kraków – Wieliczka – Krakow
Salt Mine Tour. Visit in Schindler’s Factory. Dinner in local brewery.
Morning tour to UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous attractions in the Kraków area. A fairy-tale
underground world has been created by hand during centuries of patient labor. Guided tours of the mine start at 65 m underground and go down through corridors and great chambers and past underground lakes to a depth of 135 m.
In the afternoon you will see Schindler’s Factory Museum where you can visit the exhibition “Krakow Under Nazi Occupation 1939-1945”, which has been set up in the former administrative building of Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory at 4 Lipowa Street.
The exhibition is the story of Krakow and the fate of its Polish and Jewish citizens during World War II.
Day 6: Krakow – Auschwitz – Krakow
Auschwitz – Birkenau tour. Free time.
After breakfast, you will head to Auschwitz and experience one of the most memorable lessons of modern European history. The flower strewn Death Wall, national memorials, the railway line and ramp and the remains of hundreds of barracks, all this forms a moving testimony to the number of lost lives as a result of Nazi atrocities across occupied Europe. Afternoon is at leisure.
Overnight in Krakow
